Kate and I had such a great time at the Star and Moon Bridal show last Sunday! Every time we do a show we have to stretch our creativity, be sensitive to what is going on in the bridal marketplace, get a feel for what today’s bride is looking for in terms of design…and price! It’s all about listening and responding! Thank you to all those brides out there who are helping us to learn how to help YOU have the bouquets of your dreams! You are the best!
North Country Flowers is happy to welcome Greenwich Senior Monica Walsh as our newest intern! Monica started with us today and jumped right in! Here is her first piece, the classic white mini carnation and red spray rose corsage! Learning to tape and wire flowers and make bows are important skills, and Monica is off to a great start! Keep checking back here for Monica’s newest designs…..and our plans for the upcoming Hudson Valley Community College Flower Show on March 23-25.
We always enjoy the quiet time before Valentine’s Day….we create new bouquets, Kate and Alicia have been decorating the shop in all things red, and I’ve been working on taxes! (uggh!) It is a time, too, for renewing friendships and relationships with some of our favorite venues….the Cambridge Hotel (after Gordon Ramsey’s departure) and The Hampton Inn and Suites in Saratoga. Both of these great hotels have hired North Country to create flowers for their lobby and dining spaces and we are thrilled to work with them! 2012 is going to be a wonderful year!
In January, business slows down a bit as everyone is indoors, staying warm, recharging after the busy holiday season. We do that too, but we also start looking forward to our summer/fall wedding season! In that spirit, we let our creativity out to play by making up as many “dream” bouquets as we can from the flowers we have on hand! Alicia has been a great sport (and a beautiful model!) She even painted her nails for the occasion! Wander through the portfolio and check out some of our January “dream” bouquets….one may be the perfect one for you!
Happy snowy Saturday! (More like rain and sleet!) Do you like our new motto? Flowers are all about the romance, whether it is a bunch of “date night” posies, or anniversary flowers, or wedding bouquets…..there’s no denying that flowers bring happiness, recall great memories, and even bring comfort when we are sad. They remind us of the promise of Spring in the grip of the winter cold. Am I in the best business or what!
Come on in and bring some romance home with you!
